Aponte & Associates Law Firm, P.L.L.C. was founded by Julio M. Aponte. Mr. Aponte's practice primarily focuses on the representation of issuers, underwriters, and corporate trustees on primary offerings (public and private placement) of tax-exempt and taxable bonds. In addition, Mr. Aponte represents these types of entities as well as bondholders on an array of matters, including distressed/defaulted tax-exempt bonds, foreclosures, restructurings, and market disclosure. Mr. Aponte started his career at a regional, boutique law firm which specializes in public finance transactions, and prior to forming Aponte & Associates, P.L.L.C., Mr. Aponte spent 9 years at an international law firm, where he continued to specialize on public finance transactions, with an emphasis on primary offerings and work-outs related to high yield, land-secured bonds.
Over the years, and as part of his practice, Mr. Aponte has collaborated with a litany of institutional investors, corporate trust companies, underwriters, issuers, developers, and consultants on a number of primary, bond financings and restructuring transactions, which in the aggregate total more than $500 million dollars. During the recent, financial and housing crisis that severely impacted Florida markets, Mr. Aponte was instrumental in creating and implementing various types of bond and special assessment structures that facilitated the restructuring of millions of dollars of community development district, tax exempt bonds.
